About KartMe

KartMe is the web's best way to organize and share all of your favorite things.  Over 12,000 favorites have been Kart'd in over 2,000 lists since KartMe opened to the public in late 2009.  Originally developed because Phil was tired of emailing links and bookmarks to himself to keep track of book recommendations, restaurant ideas and travel tips, KartMe has grown into a one-stop website for organizing and sharing just about anything. See lists used to dream about shoes, organize home design ideas, claim the Upper East Side has good restaurants, share new music websites, recommend funny books to read and more.

KartMe has earned an Apple "Staff Pick" and been covered in The Washington Post, TechRadar, and SmashingApps. See more about KartMe, the $250 fashion giveaway, or the book, toy, and cosmetics giveaways.

About RentTheRunway

RentTheRunway gives users access to high fashion without any of the headaches.  Launched in 2009, the service provides rentals of designer dresses and accessories at just 10% of retail prices.  Users browse online, select a dress, and it appears on their doorstep—in two different sizes, just to be safe - along with a pre-paid return package.  Cut the line and join Rent the Runway today!

Happy Kart'n!

We are constantly amazed by the cool and unique crafts project that our members organize in their Karts.  Members seem to have a knack for finding the coolest do it yourself stuff on the internet and Kart'n it!

We're especially loving the crafty DIY ideas from mcghol lately.  Here are just a couple of examples!

DIY laundry soap.  This is way better than lugging a huge box of Tide home from the store - and more eco-friendly, too!  Finding ways to reduce the use of harsh chemicals in your home has never been easier.  See it, along with instructions and ideas for homemade toothpaste, bug repellent and more in the Kart potions.

A giant xylophone.  Although this is from the Kart homeschool resources: things to make - which implies that it's for kids - I have to admit I would totally play with one of these!  And I am 30 years old.  Check this Kart out for educational project ideas for kids (and um, adults too)!

Cute greeting cards.  These vintage cards recycle sewing patterns.  Much more memorable than a cheap piece of cardstock with a cartoon and a cheesy joke, eh?  Get the details on these adorable homemade crafts, and other great stuff, in the Kart crafty things I want to make.  (We want to make them too!)

Want to be in the loop on all of these crafty finds?  You can with just one click - follow mcghol!

Thanks to all of our members for finding, Kart'n and sharing the internet's most interesting stuff.  As always, we'd love to see more - so if you've got a great site for crafts or DIY projects, Kart it!

New to KartMe?  It's free and easy to start organizing your crafts projects now!

Cake versus pie.  It's an age-old debate.  In recent years, cupcakes have certainly taken the notion of trendy sweets to new heights.  But pie's star may be starting to rise.

Check out these three NYC pie hotspots:

- Sweet Chef Southern Style Bakery: This tiny Harlem shop offers the classics - sweet potato and pecan pies, anyone - in mini versions too!

- The Little Pie Company: It's not so little, actually.  A wide variety of sizes and flavors keeps fans of this Hell's Kitchen bakery coming back for more.  Bonus: drop in for "happy hour" between 7 and 8 PM and get half off selected pies!

- Steve's Authentic Key Lime Pies: It's all key lime, all the time at Steves.  Regular pies, mini pies and tarts will transport you to Key West with each bite.  You can even get a chocolate-dipped,key-lime-on-a-stick.  Now that definitely makes a trip to Red Hook worthwhile!

Keep tabs on the trend by clicking "Watch This" on our Pie Kart!  And it's not just for New Yorkers: we've also got some great pie joints in Boston, DC, LA, Chicago, and Seattle...with more to come!

What do you think?  Is pie the next big foodie dessert obsession?  Or will cupcakes continue to reign?  We'd love to see your favorite dessert spots - put 'em in a Kart!  It's easy and free - get started now!

Four reasons why you should use KartMe to manage your summer reading list

Carrie Bradshaw.  She had the power to turn ordinary NYC stores, landmarks and even nondescript apartment stoops into major tourist attractions.  (Hello, line around the block at Magnolia Bakery!)  And now, with the hype around the release of the Sex and the City movie sequel, touring them is hotter than over!  No need to pay for a fancy tour bus, though.  Because KartMe users have collected lists of iconic SATC locations around town.  Make up your own tour, or just relive some of your favorite moments from the show as you gear up for the premiere of SATC 2!

Key Karts to watch:

  • In the Kart NYC Sex and the City Tour, emmy216 lists popular spots aroud the city for SATC set-spotting.  Wash down your City Bakery brownie with a cosmo from Tao, then walk all of it off with a stroll in the Jefferson Market Garden, where Miranda and Steve got hitched.
  • Let's face it: if you're gonna keep up with Carrie, your shoe collection could probably use a little help.  Get inspiration from mizzdressy's fabulous Shoe Kart my Spring Shoes Kart - then create your own Kart of drool-worthy Manolos and Choos!
  • Shopping is a sports for the SATC girls.  Follow their lead by browsing the fantastic boutiques in regina's Kart of Shops!

And of course, if you're having a pre-sequel party with your SATC DVD collection, you'll need refreshments.  Check out KartMe's Cooking Page with tons of food and drink recipes to browse.  We especially recommend the Hungry Girl Margarita, Kart'd by jpayne03.  Delicious!

Ah, festival season. Nothing like summer to bring all of New York's foodies out of those dimly-lit trendy restaurants and in to the city's parks and streets! Here are four that we can't wait for, and how you can use KartMe to whip your palate into shape!

Taste of Tribeca – May 15. More than 60 neighborhood restaurants in this trendy dining enclave will offer bites alongside wine tasting, family entertainment and live music. Indulge your charitable side along with your gut: the event benefits neighborhood public schools.

Homework: Wake up your taste buds by whipping up a recipe from my Gourmet Made Easy kart.

Big Apple Barbecue – June 12-13. Pity any vegetarians who live within smelling distance of Masidon Square Park! For the carnivores, though, this is a true carnival of gluttony as eighteen of the nation's top pit-masters fire it up while live music and cold beer abound.

Homework: Brush up on the difference between Carolina style and Texas style with Phil's NYC BBQ kart. Because, hey, urban grill-masters are pretty good too!

NYC Food Film Festival – June 23-27. Sample great food while watching short films about – what else? – food! Films compete for six awards, including an Audience Choice nod.

Homework: Channel your inner Ebert and make a kart of your favorite movies, like kitkat's. Need some ideas? Work your way through our 2009 Oscar Winners kart!

New York City Food & Wine Festival – October 7-10. This one's a heavy hitter, and with backing from the Food Network, some of your favorite celebrity chefs are sure to stop by!

Homework: Do some warm-up wine tasting with a selection or two from mineko27's great Wine kart. Or let us know about your favorite wines by creating your own kart!

Keep the deets on these four awesome events – along with many others! - in one easy place by clicking "Watch Kart" on this kart And of course, stay tuned for updates as the festival season rolls on.

Got a great list of festivals in your city?  Organize it and share it on KartMe!  It's free and easy - click here to get started!

Happy festival-ing, foodies!
