heard anything about this book?
Not really. I'm a fan of his early work, though, so a return to Less than Zero is pretty intriguing.
It would be pretty easy to top Lunar Park, though. He's set the bar at ground level with that one...
ouch--rough review of Lunar Park and seeing Bret Easton Ellis lose it in suburbia. i enjoyed his other books (glamorama, american psycho). never read Less than Zero...think it aged well and i should read it?
It aged pretty well--it's certainly the best example of the "stripped down minimalism" that he talks about in the beginning of Lunar Park. And Imperial Bedrooms is the same cast 25 years later, so Less Than Zero is a good thing to read for context. But I think it stands up well on its own.
Don't get me wrong, I liked Glamorama, and to a lesser extent American Psycho, but they were convoluted and denser. Less Than Zero is a quick, dark read--so yeah, I'd recommend it.
